Agape Fellowship

A Beacon of Hope in a Dark Place

Who We Are

Agape Fellowship is a Christ-centered church congregation located within Patuxent Institution in Jessup, Maryland. We are a community of believers committed to worshiping God, teaching His Word, and encouraging one another to grow in faith. Our name reflects our mission—Agape, meaning the selfless, sacrificial love of God that transforms lives.

We believe that no circumstance limits the power of Jesus Christ to redeem, restore, and renew. Our church exists to shine the light of Christ where hope is needed most.

What We Believe

Agape Fellowship stands firmly on historic Christian faith and biblical truth.

  • We believe the Bible is the inspired and authoritative Word of God.
  • We believe in one God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
  • We believe Jesus Christ is Lord, Savior, and the only mediator between God and humanity.
  • We believe salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone.
  • We believe in the power and presence of the Holy Spirit, who transforms lives and equips believers with spiritual gifts.
  • We believe in water baptism by immersion as a public declaration of faith.
  • We believe Jesus Christ will return visibly and bodily to fulfill His promises.

Our faith is not merely a statement—it is a living relationship with Jesus Christ that changes hearts and lives.

Our Mission

Agape Fellowship exists to:

  • Minister the Word of God faithfully
  • Encourage spiritual growth and discipleship
  • Provide worship services and biblical teaching
  • Pray for and support one another
  • Equip believers for ministry
  • Extend outreach and compassion to those in need

We are committed to being a spiritual family—encouraging unity, accountability, and Christlike character.

Our Leadership

Agape Fellowship is guided by a Leadership Council composed of:

  • Overseeing Directors (non-incarcerated ordained leaders who provide oversight and administrative guidance)
  • Eldership Board (incarcerated spiritual leaders who shepherd, disciple, and care for the congregation)

Together, they ensure the church operates in integrity, spiritual wisdom, and alignment with Scripture.

Membership

Membership in Agape Fellowship is open to those who:

  • Confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior
  • Demonstrate genuine faith and repentance
  • Commit to living a consistent Christian life
  • Agree with our Statement of Faith and By-Laws
  • Faithfully participate in church life

Members receive spiritual support, discipleship, leadership training opportunities, and encouragement in their walk with Christ.

We believe every believer is called to serve. Each member is encouraged to use their God-given gifts to build up the Body of Christ.

A Community of Transformation

Agape Fellowship believes that transformation begins in the heart. Through prayer, biblical teaching, fellowship, and accountability, lives are changed. We emphasize restoration—not condemnation—and seek to walk alongside one another in grace and truth.

Our church upholds biblical discipline not to punish, but to restore and strengthen individuals while maintaining unity and purity within the body.
